Volunteer: *Interest List | Gooseberry Trails Build Site

We are opening a new build site in the Portland Region! We are looking for new volunteers who are interested in joining as construction volunteers when the site opens. This interest list is designed to capture the number of volunteers that are interested. You may join this list to hear all future updates about Gooseberry Trails.

All volunteers are required to complete an orientation on one of our build sites. To get ahead, you can attend an orientation now. When Gooseberry Trails opens you'll be ready to volunteer!


 Responsibilities: 

·       Working on construction-related tasks with other volunteers 

·       Following all safety guidelines 

·       Reporting directly to the Habitat Portland Region staff at the site  


Training and Support: 

·       No Experience Necessary! 

·       Volunteers receive direction and support from Habitat construction staff and Construction Core Volunteers on site 

·       Habitat Portland Region will provide all the tools and supplies needed for a build 

·       After 6-8 shifts and a staff recommendation, opportunity to move to become a Construction Core volunteer to have access to more shifts and additional volunteer perks  


Expectations: 

·       Time Commitment: Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire shift (8:30am-3:00pm). We understand that life happens but please stay until we are all cleaned up for the day. 

·       Age requirement: Must be at least 16 years old, some limitations apply for 16- and 17-year-olds. Not all sites will have youth opportunities.   

·       Qualifications: Volunteers must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability online before coming to site, agree to the equity statement, and the volunteer manual

·       Clothing Requirement: Volunteers are required to wear closed-toed sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dirty, including with paint. 

·       Items to Bring: Please come equipped with a water bottle and lunch

Parking Information Due to the large number of trade workers Habitat is asking volunteers to not park on the site.
Parking for Habitat Volunteers is on Lower Drive, just below the railroad Tracks.
Take Lower Boones Ferry Road to Bryant Ave (Traffic Light) and turn right if heading east or turn left if heading west.Take the first right immediately after the railroad tracks to Lower Drive.Travel as far west on Lower Drive and park on the side of the road of the houses. Do not park on the "wilderness side".
Please do not block mailboxes or driveways of the residences.
Trash pickup is on Tuesday, do not block trash cans.
When parked, walk to the west and take the stairway at the end of the road up to Lower Boones Ferry Road and proceed to the job site.

Welcome to our Women+ Community Days build event for International Women's Day! Habitat’s Women+ Community Days actively welcome and support all those who self-identify as women including women of color, trans women, and other woman-aligned groups, to come together to learn, teach and connect.

This event will be hosted at our West Lake Grove (16858 Boones Ferry Road, Lake Oswego) build site. Come on March 7th from 8:15am-3:00pm, to enjoy a full day of building, learning and connecting!

No experience is necessary to participate. Volunteers at our Women+ Community Days build event will work under the guidance of construction staff and alongside other volunteers.
