Our Women Build events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities. Women Build volunteers learn new skills and teach others—all while working in a supportive and empowering environment.
While our build site opportunities are currently on hold, our four local ReStores will each be hosting a special edition ReStore Women Build Day in the month of June. ReStore projects can include painting, landscaping, organizing shelves, pricing donated items, rearranging/putting together furniture, and other store-specific tasks. Our stores are bursting at the studs with fantastic donated materials, and sales raise money for our Habitat home building projects! Our ReStores also serve as an affordable and approachable resource for home and repair goods in their communities.
No experience is necessary to participate. Volunteers at our ReStore Women Build event will work under the guidance of ReStore staff and alongside other volunteers. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved, and improves the community that you share.
Women Build is also a terrific way to involve your friends in crucial work with a lasting impact. Women helping women sends a positive and powerful message. You can also come alone, and make new friends. The atmosphere is collaborative and friendly. Through volunteer experiences and educational programming, Women Build encourages volunteer participants and financial supporters to challenge stereotypes, fight all forms of inequality, and advocate for themselves and each other.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and comfortable clothing you do not mind becoming a bit dirty. Face masks are required and we will maintain social/physical distancing in the stores. Since our stores are closed to the public on Tuesdays, we'll have plenty of space for our projects. A presentation on our ReStores as well as Women Build will be facilitated during a brown bag lunch break built into the day, so be sure to pack a lunch!
