Habitat for Humanity Portland Region’s Online ReStore was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic as a creative way to stay connected with our community when in-person shopping was limited. What began as a simple solution to help customers continue finding quality furniture from the comfort of home quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, our Online ReStore has evolved into a robust web store featuring a wide variety of items.
In addition to furniture and home goods, shoppers can browse collectibles, clothing, vintage pieces, and rare finds that don’t always make it to the sales floor. And with our goal to make shopping easy and convenient, we now offer convenient local delivery, as well as nationwide shipping through our eBay store.
Orientation Details:
Orientation is your very first shift -- typically 1-2 hours instead of the standard four hours. During orientation, you will be given a tour, be introduced to staff members, learn about Habitat and warehouse operations, and get instructions on how to sign up for future shifts. Please feel free to share your interests and talents with a staff member so we can best fit you with a task.
Please select just ONE orientation shift.
After you have completed this first shift, you will be able to sign up for future opportunities.
Come prepared to be on your feet for the duration of the shift (unless otherwise noted in your profile). Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that are comfortable (most folks wear jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt). Please consider weather-appropriate clothing as the temperature in the store may vary greatly depending on the season.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must complete an orientation at the warehouse
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This volunteer role operates in an open warehouse environment. This role is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The volunteer will frequently lift, move and/or load large furniture items.
