Schedule for the day:
- Please arrive between 8:45 and 9:00 AM to sign in and put on PPE (personal protection equipment) that will be provided for you
- You will move between various stations to learn how to safely use different types of power tools and to learn techniques to more efficiently use hand tools
- The day will end around 12:00 PM
What to expect:
- This session is for someone new to the construction world. It will go over the basics of power tools and hand tools. If you are skilled in construction and would like to be a leader at one of the stations, please contact volunteer@habitatportlandregion.org.
- A break will be provided during the training
- Please bring a water bottle. We will also have snacks and drinks available on-site.
- All PPE is provided for you
- This opportunity is for individuals 18 and older
What to wear:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Construction or hiking boots are preferable. Tennis shoes are allowed, too.
- Knee-length or longer pants
- Shirts with short or long sleeves
- Be prepared with layers in the colder months
Where to park:
- You can park on-site
- Please pull through the gate, site staff will direct you to the best place to park
