Invasive Species Removal | Gooseberry Trails build Site

Description

This is a special opportunity to help with the beginning stages of site development through invasive species removal. Volunteers will work directly with site staff on what plants need to be removed to help preserve the nature area of this soon to be 52 home community in the Hillsdale neighborhood. 

 Outline of Volunteer Responsibilities: 

  • Following safety guidelines 
  • Reporting directly to the Habitat Portland Region staff person at the site   

Training and Support: 

  • No Experience Necessary! 
  • Habitat Portland Region will provide all the tools and supplies needed for a build   

Expectations: 

  • Time Commitment: Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire shift. We understand that life happens but please stay until we are all cleaned up for the day. 
  • Age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old  
  • Qualifications: Volunteers must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability online, agree to the equity statement,  and the volunteer manual. 
  • Clothing Requirement: Volunteers are required to wear closed-toed sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dirty. 
  • Items to Bring: Please come equipped with a water bottle and snacks

 Parking:

  • Is located on site as part of the lower parking area for the Greater Portland Bible Church. Please follow parking instructions from staff.  



This is a volunteer opportunity. Volunteers willingly provide voluntary service without any promise or expectation of payment of any kind.

Inclement Weather Plan: The site may close in case of inclement weather. This could include poor air quality, unusual cold or extreme heat. Volunteers will be notified via email the morning of their shift.
